Stanford Social Dimensions Scale 2

You are invited to participate in a research study that seeks to develop and validate a new questionnaire measure designed to help researchers better understand individual differences in different aspects of social functioning across diverse clinical populations. Detailed insight into different social domains is relevant not only for children and adolescents with autism but also for children with other neurodevelopmental conditions as well as for children who are typically developing. Unfortunately, currently available measures do not allow researchers and clinicians to gain comprehensive information on different aspects of social functioning in children. Therefore, we hope to validate and expand our measure, called the Stanford Social Dimensions Scale 2 (SSDS-2), both for children who are typically developing and for children who might have some form of neurodevelopmental condition or delay. In this online survey, you will take the SSDS-2 as well as multiple other questionnaires regarding your child’s behaviors. In addition to the questions about your child’s social communication, this survey will also include a range of other questions about your child, including age, gender, as well as questions about her/his development and other traits and behaviors.

To be eligible to participate you must be: • A parent of a child with autism, a neurodevelopmental, neuropsychiatric or genetic condition between the ages of 5-17 years old. • Willing to complete an online survey containing many questionnaires that will ask you to provide information about a range of your child’s behaviors.

The online survey contains two sets of questionnaires. The first set will take approximately 30-45 minutes and is considered essential. The second set contains additional questionnaires that will enable us to gain additional information about the performance of the SSDS-2, and will take approximately 30-40 minutes. The complete set of online questionnaires will take approximately 60-85 minutes to complete. Additionally, we will collect data on behavioral and pharmacological interventions using a comprehensive treatment log that will take approximately 15 minutes. There is no cost to participate in the study. If you provide your contact information, you will be entered into raffles to be conducted 10 days after the survey is closed for a $25 Amazon gift card. You can enter the raffle if you do not start or complete the study task by emailing [email protected] with the subject line “SSDS-2 Study Raffle Entry.” The chance of winning a prize is approximately 1 in 50. The winner will be notified immediately by email and provided with information on how to receive the prize. Participating in this research will help us gain knowledge that will help increase our ability to assess social behaviors and to develop effective treatments for ASD.
